A Journey Through The Country of Keywords

[ad#test4]
But wait for it. It gets much better. As you can see from the sample of keywords illustrated in the following image the people who made it to my webpage really meant business! How do I know?
Take a look at those keywords. Nobody in their right mind types them into a search engine for fun!
Furthermore look at how long the average person spent on my blog for each given keyword …a pretty long time! That is because these visitors were actually concerned enough to read the info provided there. THEY NEEDED A SOLUTION FAST!
Okay let’s analyze the image above in a little greater detail shall we. Now the first thing I should point out is that I did not purposefully target most of those keywords. In fact I can confidently state that I only optimized my webpage (more about that later) for just three of the keywords listed above.
The rest of those keywords were ones that the Googlebot (Google search engine algorithm) felt justified in attributing to the webpage in question. Thus when someone typed in such a search phrase in any of the major search engines my webpage popped up on the front page of the search engine as illustrated in the examples below:
Such keywords are known as longtail keywords and although they may not send a ton of web traffic your way the traffic they do send is the highest grade of pre-qualified and relevant web traffic. I mean who types in a phrase like speed up slow running computer for fun eh?
Somebody who types in such a search term obviously means business and is absolutely dead serious about finding a solution!
Now the thing about longtail keywords is that you cannot really purposefully optimize for them for the simple fact they are not readily identified. After all we are all different as individuals and thus tend to type in different worded phrases into the search engines even when searching for precisely the same item or pursuing the same objective.
Another big plus gained from longtail keywords is that since they are little-known and little used they tend to have low difficulty levels! That is why webpages get to rank well for such longtail keywords long before they rank well for high-volume web traffic keywords that are usually far less targeted and specific!
Check out the image below to see what I mean about an easy difficulty level. As far as I am concerned any keyword with a difficulty level in the “50s” or below is supremely easy to dominate and rank for on Google Page One. And that is the hallmark of most longtail keywords!
Okay let’s refer back to the image that showed some of the keywords with which visitors arrived to my webpage! To make it easier I have copied the image to the following page.
The first column lists the keywords used to arrive to my webpage and the following column lists the number of visitors to my webpage in a one-month period. As you can see it is actually not exactly a flood of web traffic. But I am sure that you have also noticed something quite significant which is that the shortest average time spent on my website was 3.52 minutes.
Furthermore if you review the 3rd column (the one with the heading “Pages/Visit”) you will notice that typically each visitor reviewed at least 2 pages on my blog. That was no coincidence! You see I linked 2 related pages together, both of which covered the topic of “slow computer” (but more of that later). Thus as naturally and instinctively as breathing those visitors moved from one page to the next without missing a beat!
