Global warming huh? Does it really exist or is it just a myth? Recently I was reading someone's article on global warming and the main thrust of it was that global warming couldn't be anything other than myth because of the unseasonally warm weather they were experiencing in their region. The article ended with the author's wistful wish "I wish we could have a spell of global warming here!"
And therein lies one of the biggest problems concerning this issue of global warming. Most people have no idea that global warming can produce unnaturally cold weather and even precipitate the next ice age. Another common misconception by those who would refute the reality of global warming is that it is simply preposterous and arrogant to assume that mankind has the ability to destroy the earth!
Global Warming: The Signs and the Science
And once again that is where the global-warming decriers are wrong. Mankind is not going to destroy the earth mankind is merely going to wipe out most of the current species and ecology that exist as well as a good portion of humanity itself! The earth was here long before us and will be here long after us.
The only question is how long is out footprint on this earth going to be?
Already thousands of species are disappearing (the polar bear was recently put on the endangered list) and hundreds of thousands of people are dying as a result of the effects of global warming!
Some may argue that my global warming articles are unnecessarily alarmist in the same manner that some say that Al Gore's documentary on global warming "An Inconvenient Truth" drives a hidden political agenda and is nothing more than hype!

Selfishness, Ignorance And Greed Seems To Be The Fuel Driving The Denouncers Of Global Warming!
This is my take on those who deny the truth and effects of global warming: it is plain selfishness! Nothing more nothing less!
The vast majority of global warming denouncers come from the United States and the only explanation I could come up for their stance is because they truly believe that global warming will not affect them! Click Here To See What I Mean
And judging by the reports now trickling out from the press perhaps they feel amply justified...that global warming is going to hit the poorer regions of the earth hardest (who incidentally also happen to contribute the least to it).
When I watched An Inconvenient Truth one of the things that struck me most profoundly and really got me thinking about global warming was the disappearance of Lake Chad (1/20th the size it used to be)and the fact that 500 BILLION TONS OF ICE MELTED IN 35 DAYS! (Larsen B Ice Shelf).

Which got me thinking...if the climatologists' and environmental scientists' computer models (having factored in current global warming trends)got the prediction of the collapse of the Larsen B Ice Shelf so very wrong (they thought it would take almost 100 years to disintegrate) who's to say their predictions for an initial food boom for the northern hemispheres (Europe, North America, Parts of Asia) as a result of global warming is any more accurate!
Greenland is a far bigger ice mass than the Larsen B Ice Shelf was (Greenland has an area of 2,130,800 km compared to the 3,250 km area the Larsen B Ice Shelf once had) and several years back it started showing the same characteristics!
Who's to say Greenland won't disintegrate in the next few years thereby ushering in a new ice age in the northern hemispheres?

In much the same way that Big Tobacco misled us for several decades about the correlation between cigarettes and lung cancer so have the major oil companies and automobile manufacturers (as well as other industries that stand to lose profits by acknowledging the existence of global warming; not to mention the Bush Administration's continual state of denial) down played the seriousness and stark reality of global warming today!
It is difficult these days to deny the fact that global warming exists and is upon us with a vengance, so much so that even America's ultra right wing hawks have admitted as much (albeit tentatively).
